Learn how to combine the processes of Natural Dyes (tannin and ferrous sulphate) as well as a hint of color from ice-dyed yarns! Ice Dyeing will begin on Day 1 - February 22 where you will dye two warps. On Day 2 (March 1) you will learn how to use a tannin from black tea as well as ferrous sulphate to dye warps including a sample warp (4.5 yards - 50 ends) I provide! Warp your looms for a 4 shaft threading for a NEW Deflected Doubleweave draft (Day 3 March 8) using 6-10 treadles or liftplan.
A mini kit with sample yarns/fabric, ferrous sulphate, and some hard-to-find ice dyes (from Happy Cat Tie Dye or Dharma) will be shipped to US Participants ($11.40 included in the cost of this workshop). Additional postage may be required for shipping outside the US after purchase.

Requirements: 4 shaft loom, 2 shuttles, cotton and/or tencel 4.5 yard warps for dyeing, commercial yarns, tannin (black tea), a few fiber reactive dyes of your own, stainless steel dye pot, tubs for ice dyeing, measuring spoons/cups, spoons,…a detailed list of materials will come 24 hours within registration.
